With over a decade of experience as an international development professional, Alex has focused his career in strategic planning, fundraising and communications in the humanitarian, political, public and private sector. As Director of External Relations at Action Against Hunger, he manages the organization’s fundraising and communication platforms, in charge of creating and implementing development strategies to expand the organization’s support among individuals, corporations and foundations. Prior to this, Alex was the Director of Partnerships at PCI Media Impact, a 30 year old NGO and leader in the field of Entertainment-Education and creative communication for social change. In this capacity, Alex managed the organization’s Communications and Development departments, working side by side with local staff and partners across 30 countries. He also served as Regional Director for Merlin USA, an international medical relief organization. In this role, he oversaw the development, management and implementation of the West Coast growth strategy as well as the overall communication structure nationwide. He was part of Merlin’s emergency response in Haiti and helped support its programs in Kenya, Liberia and South Sudan. Alex is a dual citizen of France and the United States. He has lived, studied and worked in the States, Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean. He holds a BA with Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (in International Studies and Economics) and an MA in International Development from Sciences-Po, Paris. Alex is a United Nations Alliance on Civilizations (UNAOC) Fellow as well as a Rotary Peace Fellow, with a professional development degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.
