Rana Al Sharif is a programme manager at Global Nomads Group, an international NGO that aims to foster global, youth-driven intercultural dialogue through virtual exchange programmes between students in the MENA region and the US. She manages the implementation and design the curricula of the organization’s flagship programmes: “Campfire: Collaborating Classrooms”, “Student to World: Art in Action” and “Student to World: Ocean Health”. While designing the curricula, her main focus is to ensure the inclusion and representation of young girls from different parts of the world. Assignments are anchored in storytelling where youth share personal experiences that humanize them and enable them to engage in fruitful dialogue with global peers. Together they work on deconstructing stereotypes and cultural misperceptions. These curricula are implemented at diverse locations such as girls’ schools in underserved areas in Jordan, in Morocco, and schools with at-risk teens in the US.
